Purple Hibiscus
by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The writing is amazing and easy to read. It's a beautiful, sad, tough, and real story about a Nigerian family that is rich but isn't happy, that has a father that is a good fellow to others, helps needed people, but is abusive to his family. All the characters are amazingly developed, even those that appear less. You feel the tension, the happiness when it has, the sadness, the relief.
