Fourth Wing but more sci-fi and no dragons (yet, anyway), a more developed love interest, and a better potential love triangle (better friend betrayal, too, in that it was more intense and made more sense).  In spite of this description, this book is its own thing. It's an exciting, unpredictable adventure and a good read.
