Magie und Milchschaum by Travis Baldree

lighthearted fast-paced

Definitely cozy, but bordering on boring. I don't mind the low stakes, but the character work remains rudimentary the whole time. The allusion to our modern world feel very out of place. Viv literally only has to press buttons on the coffee machine for it to make coffee? How the hell is the machine doing that without electricity? Also, it didn't seem very believable that everybody is just amazed by the taste of coffee even though it's the first time they try it and it's described to them as "a kind of tea". However, it was overall a fun read. The uni student with the expensive, yet purposefully shaggy outfit who comes there not to buy anything, but only to study? Hilarious. Also, I love a good friendship/found family story.
