A beautifully transformative story about a girl born into a family connected to the monarch butterflies. She awakens to find herself in a monarch body, and thus begins her journey of migration from her home to the reserves in Mexico. She experiences all the struggles and tribulations of migration from weather to predators to intentional malicous human intervention. And ultimately finds a way to help save the preserve and her generation of butterfly peers, as well as their future generations. She returns to her life as a human and grows fo spend it dedicated to protecting and fighting for safe monarch butterfly migration and preserves.
The art style was sketchy and vibrant with so many variations. One would think there would be only so many pages of butterfly illustrations before they blended together, but the vibrancy and movement helped you feel swept up among the flocks and energized. It truly cemented the vividness of the story and transformative journey.
