It's been a long time since I've given a book 5 stars, but WOW. I was smiling literally the entire time I was listening to this book. So meta...! I loved every second of it (ok, that one scene where the main character talked to the 'present day' version of his friend's dead wife was lame and pretty unnecessary. But that was really the only scene I didn't like). OMG AND THAT ENDING~ fuck. This book was so much fun.

*edit*
ok, I gave "Oryx and Crake" 5 stars back in April. That book was fun, but in a completely different way....
I really wasn't expecting to like this book that much. Pleasantly surprised, Mr. Scalzi.

OH yeah, now that my head is a bit clearer, I do remembering being incredibly annoyed by all the dialogue tags (Dhal said.....Duval said...etc...). In the first chapter, they were so frequent, and it sounded ridiculous in the audiobook, especially at 2x speed. But I think I just liked the story so much that I was able to ignore it...though, if I'm being honest, I did think a lot of the characters sounded the same, and I got a lot of them mixed up (I thought the guy who got his head blown up, Finn, was the main character's rich friend. But apparently that was the guy who I honestly didn't remember being in the entire story until the very end. That Hestor guy also didn't stand out at all until he became important. And I realize that was the point, but yeah, they could have been distinguished a little bit more....). Still 5 stars~
