Good thriller. Similar Elementary episode was perhaps better done as it was a bit more concise, so a bit more thrilling. Interesting to note the author is a book critic. Perhaps that speaks to the book was structurally well done to try and build the story and suspense bit by bit. But some of the more metaphorical imagery stuff was a bit detracting. Not sure it was meant this way, but I like to think a morale from the story is that getting involved in religion will cause you trouble....
