In a Country of Mothers by A.M. Homes
3.0
I dunno how I felt about this one. Just picked a random book off my “beige” bookshelf because that’s the fullest shelf and it was Mothers Day so I shrugged and went with it. I honestly don’t remember ever picking this up anywhere. I’m usually pretty good at remember where or when I got books but this one….I got nothing.
Anyways, we have Jody, a young adult just figuring out her life and what she wants to do with it. She’s adopted, just generally struggling with some things and goes to therapy. Then we have her new therapist, Claire, who starts to believe Jody is her daughter that she had given up years ago. Boundaries are crossed, it gets weird, gets mildly annoying which I’m not sure was the character or the story.
Easy read and not BAD, but I give it a solid “eh”
