The Night She Disappeared
by Lisa Jewell
This was SUCH A SLOWBURN. like way too slow for a supposed "thriller" but maybe that's just me. the first 300 pages were so unbearably boring like my eye started twitching. OK Sorry that was mean to say but this entire thing could have been condensed into literally less than 100 pages. and I get that the author's prose is meant to be all flowery and all that for character development(?) but it was SUCH A SLOG to read. Like do I really need to know this minor character's outfit from head-to-toe No I Do Not.
apart from that, it only got good at the very end BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN YOU FIND OUT HOW STUFF ACTUALLY HAPPENS. Like Brah. But it was good and low-key satisfying. Also the gay plot twist was unexpected but it is the ONLY plot twist of this entire book so like...
