Taking Chances
by Molly McAdams
This is a tough book to review for me. I loved the beginning, all the teenage angst and chemistry between chase, harper and brandon, I couldn't put this book down for a minute. But then half way through, it completely changes. As everyone else has said, it is a very disappointing and shocking turn of events that Chase dies, but then the rest of the book seems a bit unrealistic to me. The fact that she just jumps back to Brandon, the fact that the family is so accepting of everything that has happened, and that nobody blames her for anything, and most of all, how perfect and saintly Brandon is through all of it. He just takes her back and is a perfect (almost) boyfriend to her after all she has put him through... that is not real. And to top it all off, these are just kids! 18-22 years old and the rest of their lives are decided for them by their choosing to have babies at 18? What about finishing college? What about making something of your self first and then having a family? Or at least both? At least it can be used as a deterrent for kids these age, saying, "don't have unprotected sex because you will get pregnant!"
So there is my mixed feelings review. A bit disappointed after such a strong start.
