This book blew me away! I was hooked so fast by Joan and how she views the world and the stars. TJR has such a beautiful way of writing characters, families, and a specific career that all weave together perfectly. Many tears were shed throughout this one.
As I said I was so intrigued by Joan and I loved her character. I loved her quiet determination to succeed mixed with her ability to care for all the people around her. Her relationships with Frances and Vanessa were heartwarming and heart wrenching.
The love story in this was beautiful. This book depicts how hard it was being lesbian in the 80’s and it’s sad how much it can still be relevant in someways today.
Found family and blood related family are also written so well in this.I found myself in tears so many times for Frances, the neglect from her mother and then the love from her aunt were at such odds but I’m so glad with how things worked out.
