I admit, I didn't really have this on my tbr. But then I could not resist the beautiful Broken Binding edition. Now I can say - that was a good decision.
I really enjoyed Ascendant. The relationship between Holt and Ash is great. And while the YA classification does fit, it can get quite gritty and dark. I would say it is a perfect all ages (YA and upwards) dragon rider book! I know I would have loved this as a teenager. I really enjoyed it at almost 50.
I will read the free prequel novella next. I have not decided if I just read on as quickly as possible or if I should wait for The Broken Binding to do the next one ... but I will definitely read on.
