This book is boring and also there is no build-up or logical path to the plot or the character's actions. I wanted a fun book about pirates and was hopeful that this would work out as I did have some fun reading the first 20% but my god nothing the characters are doing makes any sense within the context of the story.

Rant about how this book barely has any pirates in it (spoilers):

I also don't understand the logic of making all the pirates in the main characters' crew hate him and each other. And I REALLY don't understand killing them all off. This is supposed to be a book about pirates. Pirate is in the book's title but so far the pirates haven't really been in or the focus of the story and then you kill them all off at roughly the halfway point of the book. Like WTF! I would love an explanation for that writing decision.

Also, this isn't even a romance the two characters meet, have one argument, and then suddenly they are allegedly in love out of nowhere.

So in love that the main male character purposely gets every person he knows killed for the main female character FOR NO REASON it might be the most random out-of-place scene I have ever read in a book and was the moment I gave up on this book being any good.
