The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
by Kim Michele Richardson
One of my favorite pieces of historical fiction I can remember reading in quite some time. Such a unique backdrop in 1930s Appalachian Kentucky, and full of wonderfully imagined characters. Not only is the protagonist so lovable, but many of side characters, as well. I wept with their losses and found myself visibly grinning at their successes. Very well written, compelling read.
