Wonderful. So, so tender and loving. The best book in the Gilead series (so far at least), although admittedly it benefits from the development in the first book. Lila is such an interesting character with a clear, distinct voice. I love her and want the best for her. I very much want to know what happens after the end of the book,
after "the old man" passes away

I really enjoyed her musings on theology - or as she describes it, "why things happen." She and the Reverend have such a tender, loving relationship, and their conversations about faith and existence feel so raw and wise. I can kind of see what this god thing is about.
