When We Ride
by Rex Ogle
I haven’t read anything that so perfectly captures the social pressures and experiences of teenage boys since The Outsiders, and this story is equally as important. It is beautifully written, has a haunting refrain of unwanted complicity, and ultimately leads to an inescapable outcome. Solid gold. I will never forget it.
Moderate: Child death, Death, Drug use, Gun violence
