The Demon King
by Cinda Williams Chima
This is one of the few books I have ventured to reread, and based on the first book, I feel as though it is worth my time.
I've always admired Chima's descriptions and plot arc, but because I have already read the first three books in this series, I know that a tedious description of travel is soon to greet me. Chima dances with over-description towards the end of this book, but I still found it nicely executed!
Her plot twists and character development are always fascinating and compelling; I can't wait to see what's to happen next!
The story itself is very interesting. After reading her urban fantasy series Heir Chronicles, I think that a fantasy setting is more her style and definitely pairs better with the plot. By this point in her career, Chima knows what readers are looking for without following all the usual clichés (note I say ALL ;), and I admire that.
