Heartbreak Warfare by Kate Stewart, Heather M. Orgeron
5.0

I live for the books that hurt you and heal you all at the same time. The ones that test you, pull out the tears, the heartache — make you question normal situations while also leaving their mark on you. Those are the books that truly make reading worthwhile. They are the books you don’t ever forget. And this was one of them.

I knew to go in expecting high emotions. What I didn’t know was how difficult and emotional nearly every word and page would be. I felt challenged by this story and I came out the other side feeling wholly different.

Katy is a badass soldier and a fierce mother. She’s also a loving wife. But when faced with war, distance from her family, and an arrestingly handsome so grunt soldier, all while held captive, perspectives change. You change. And Katy didn’t return home the same woman she left as.

Kate Stewart and Heather Orgeron wrote such a beautifully devastating and tragic story that I won’t ever forget.

TW: this book is graphic and at times difficult to read. Be aware and enjoy.
