You ever stand in the frozen food aisle at a grocery store, with the lights overhead malfunctioning? This book has that same uncanny vibe.
Even though the women are all complicit in a crime, you can't help but root for them. Masako especially. However, there's one character who is fat and is the most unlikeable of the bunch; her weight is constantly brought up as a denigration, so that was kind of sketchy. As this book is about committing crimes, the content is of course dark. My face was scrunched up for quite a few pages. The writing itself is just alright.
