I’ve Read this novel in French. As usual, Joyce Carol Oates makes us believe that her story was true and intense. The way the characters are depicted changes the way we see them, love them or hate them. The end is very emotional. It’s a teenage story about death and grieving, but it’s about family, coming of age and overcoming one’s fears.
