American by Day
by Derek B. Miller
This author can write! Sometimes the dialogue was a bit too snappy in this story about a female Norwegian police officer who travels to the US to find her non-responsive brother at the request of their father. Read this for a fresh look at America and its culture from an outsider. It touches directly on Black Lives Matter and police shootings of unarmed black men (or children in this case) and race relations. I enjoyed reading about all of these things indirectly as that way just works better for me. The plot moves quickly and, like I said, the dialogue has energy. Sheriff Irv is a character I would love to see again.
