The setup and concept for this book is extremely good; the constant racism built into medical studies within the United States. The tone also serves to add to how dark it is and I felt it as a read; the mystery behind what was really happening to Lena was also good. Giddings is also really good at working in the haziness of the narrator's memory into the writing itself.
However I was really disappointed by the ending because it just felt like it was hitting bullet points.
