Despite obvious pacing problems in the second half of this book, I really enjoyed it. The whole premise feels like something I’ve been waiting for all my life. I loved this gory, horny, cannibalism book. The first half was fantastic and felt self-contained. The second half definitely goes off the rails a little bit. So much is happening that it’s hard to get a full grasp for what’s going on, and it kind of starts to feel like whiplash in a way that made me lose my trust in the story a little bit. My other frustration would be that the synopsis of this book very heavily implies that this is a “throuple” book, and that very much does not happen in the text. It’s left up to readers to decide how these three women stand with one another at the end of the book, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But because of this, all of the tension between these women that is so carefully laid out in the first half is squandered, and the ending lacks catharsis. I still liked it a lot (I feel like it’s good, but I’m sad cause it could have been perfect - if that makes sense), and it had similar vibes to The Dancing Tree by Kirian Millwood Hargrave. Highly recommend checking that book out if you liked this one.
