No Sex in the City by Randa Abdel-Fattah

3.0

While I enjoyed the friendships, relationships and characters of this novel, I felt like a true deep emotional experience was missing. I was also very irritated at the end when Esma's first kiss happens by surprise without her permission, especially as she has been so careful to maintain her boundaries up to this point. It felt like making that move romantic undermined the rest of the story and it left me unsatisfied with the final resolution. But Abdel-Fattah has a breezy style and I enjoyed the friendships, so wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to people who enjoy a chick-lit style.
