kristaoz 's review for:
Living Dead in Dallas
by Charlaine Harris
SO much better than the first novel. I'm not a huge fan of her writing style but I think the books are good enough to read anyway. This one inspired Season 2 of True Blood.
I enjoyed #2 because it was more action packed than the first. I'm getting a little tired of Bill (he's just super creepy) and I think Eric is hysterical.. especially his lycra suit that is talked about in detail. I think that the Eric in the novel is much more likable than the Eric on TV.
I was actually really upset to find out that Lafayette dies at the beginning of the book. He's a great source of comic relief and I really missed his snarky comments. I didn't like the book Eggs - he was raunchy and a douchebag. At least the Eggs on TV really did care about Tara. The maenad storyline almost seemed like an afterthought in the book. She attacks Sookie, disappears, then Sam gets with her? After he sees what happened to Sookie? Uh, no. And then she happens to show up at the "sex party" and wreaks havoc. I was much more comfortable with the Maenad storyline on the show - she was the reason for all the debauchery and sex-riddled evenings. I really do think that the Dallas storyline is handled much better in novel form vs. on television. I like that Jason wasn't apart of all of the drama in Dallas; it seemed a bit unbelievable on the show, and I couldn't imagine it here. I really hated the people at the head of the Fellowship (Steve + Sarah) on the show and the books made me hate them even more. I think Stan was a great creature, and I only wish that Godfrey was somewhat related to the Shreveport vampires.
I flew through this book.. onto the next!
