Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby

5.0

I was not expecting this book to have me nearly in tears in the 1st 30 pages of the book.

Especially not in a thriller.

This is my 2nd S.A. Cosby book, and this deals with some VERY heavy topics. Topics of racism, homophobia, transphobia, economic disparity. The truly impressive thing is just how well these topics are dealt with.

The story centers itself around the fathers of a married gay couple who were murdered, and are struggling to overcome their own biases, their own toxic behavior, and their love for their kids.

I love how Cosby handles these. The topics covered here can take so much self-reflection to deal with in an honest way, and Cosby did a wonderful job.

Especially given that it's a thriller. There are too few thrillers that do so much good character work in a genre that's usually more plot driven in its' focus.

Cant wait to read the next S.A. Cosby book.
