The Inmate by Freida McFadden
4.5
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
i did really like the protagonist, however i did think the way she overthought a lot of situations was a bit jarring to read. i had so many red flags about certain characters, which obviously was the intention.however this made it feel like it was an obvious lead up to be tim, and knowing freida and her twists, i spent a lot of the book thinking where is this going? it would have hit more if there was more if tim was not so suspicious and brooke constantly questioning him internally. the twist with the body in the cellar would have really hit then.
i’m undecided on the twist with it being margie and shane together. it’s somewhat far fetched, however it is entertaining and deffo didn’t predict it. i’m also unsure how i feel about josh killing shane, it’s a good call to shane being mental - and more realistic than hiw, but that being the last book i read it felt a bit like oh not the kids again. however the writing from the child perspective seemed more child like than hiw.
overall though - i had a great time reading it, freida always gags me with her twists and the more i read the more invested i was!
