Foundation and Empire by Isaac Asimov

There's women! Foundation and Empire isn't as good as Foundation. The increased story scope works against Asimov here, as he's less able to maintain interesting twists. The final story is the longest, most significant, and the least engaging — although we have left the competent men behind, at least for a little while, by the finale.
