Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers

informative inspiring fast-paced

2.0

I picked up the audiobook during an art study that I was doing and I agreed on a handful of notes that the book stated, but others made me rather uncomfortable.

Positives:
- You get one chance, use it.
- You should try to make the best out of a bad situation.

Negatives:
- The book states that you're at fault for feeling anything negative when somebody else does something bad to you. It makes it seem that people are only victims if they want to be ones. Please remember, you don't control other people's actions.
- To some extent, this book promotes toxic positivity.
- This book promotes thankfulness to people who have hurt/harmed you in any way.

Toxic positivity: the pressure to only display positive emotions, suppressing any negative emotions, feelings, reactions, or experience. Note that this can lead to trauma, isolation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
