I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley
this book had its up and downs. there was really nothing too memorable about the characters. cora was just a girl and leo did annoy me a bit in the beginning. i felt like there truly wasn’t a plot. it felt very slice of life, which could be great if you’re into that, but in my opinion it got boring.
i did start to like leo near the end but i felt like it was ruined after he left and cora had forgiven him too fast. i found her best friends were the best part of the book and i would love to read about them. cora seemed kind of boring in comparison.
relationship wise, i thought despite them being rivals to lovers, the communication between them was amazing. i’m glad there wasn’t any miscommunication between them. their communication skills is what i strive to have with a partner.
it was a fast read. ish. technically it took me almost 3 weeks to read because the slice of life feeling made me not want to read it. but it started to pick up near the end and i started to finish it really fast. however, i found the dialogue a bit too millennial for my taste.
i’d recommend it to people who love dogs and love the slice of life genre!
