I, once again, blasted through this installment, especially once I realized we were going to be meeting Park’s family because holy shit! The drama! I was literally sat up, eating my popcorn as Cooper desperately tries to settle into the flow of the pack, but no one else seems to want that to happen— including Oliver.

Very, very impressed with how Adhara built on Oliver’s character here, especially since we still only see through Cooper’s eyes. Their character work is truly phenomenal and the way these two grow together is just so human. They have their own issue that they have to work on, not only for themselves but also for the good of their relationship and it just feels so realistic! Oliver’s desperation to keep up appearance and protect Cooper is so sweet, but also so unsustainable and I liked the reflection we saw as he realized that. Literally obsessed with how their relationship has been handled in this series. Plus, y’know, a spicy, kinky good time.

This book did lean more heavily on the werewolf elements and the A/B/O dynamics, which I know some people don’t like, but given this series’ world, it also makes perfect sense. (Did just want to slide that comment in for some peoples' comfort. )

The mystery in this one wasn’t my favorite. There are a lot of new characters thrown at you and it was a little hard to follow all of them, their relationships, their wants, and motives. I did like how Cooper was really outside his comfort zone with the very nature of this mystery and seeing how he was still managing to investigate. I do think Adhara wrapped things up in a way that made sense, was satisfying, but also curious as to what was going to happen next.

Already started the next book, because I just love these two dorks and seeing them work out their shit to become the best couple.
