419 pages and honestly, not a lot happens. It started off okay- then became incredibly repetitive, only for it to end on a cliffhanger. It's a bit cheesy, which is fine when it's done well, but this did not hit the mark for me. Even the romance, which is Nora Roberts main shtick, felt rushed and forced (and a little awkward at times).
The dialogue is clunky and poorly edited (there were multiple instances of me struggling to figure out what character was saying a line) and the characters felt a bit flat and even unlikeable at times. I read this for bookclub and have no interest in continuing the series.
