I loved The Black Jewels series from the first book. I enjoyed Ephemera and the characters from those books. It's no surprise I was excited to see another series by Bishop. I was less sure about urban fantasy as opposed to more pure fantasy. I shouldn't have worried.
My favorite part of the book was watching Meg learn and grow, not just with regard to her own self but on how she dealt with The Others. She starts off fearful and hiding but is stronger, if still a bit impulsive, by the end of the book.
As with her other books this one has characters I am drawn to. I can't wait to learn more about Tess and her story. Others in the group, like Winter and her family, are sure to provide interesting stories. Even the human police officer, Lieutenant Montgomery, has a story I'm interested in exploring.
I've already ordered the other books in the series. I'm sure they won't disappoint.
