A delightful book that punches you with vivid observations, yet feels like an older sister combing your hair while reminiscing those Remember-when-we-were… stories. I love the set up of the book that follows a national boxing championship tournament for the eight best teenage girls in the US.

Each round is a back and forth between two girls, their past, current, and future. In that particular fight everything comes together, but only one can win and progress to the next round.

And so we are moving around the ring and are presented with portraits of eight teenage girls fighting each other for the first place.

I loved this unusual setting and the way the story was told. It was graphic, fast paced, and it felt somehow as if the reader participated in the ring, moving around, jumping in and out of the boxing teens’ focus and minds. Really interesting.
