The Perfect Christmas by Debbie Macomber
2.0

A short and sweet vanilla romance for people who prefer happy endings and not much steam. There was a tiny bit of romantic tension and some scenes I could imagine being a good romantic comedy, particularly with the wacky assortment of neighbors. Overall, it was just okay. I think I am not Macomber's target audience (which is older white women who love cozy happily ever afters). I can appreciate coziness, especially in a Christmas romance but I like there to be a bit more depth to the characters, a little more romantic tension and heat. However, I have to say the plot was a perfect and satisfying set up for those of us who don't need a lot of suspense.

So, I was into the plotline. The back blurb got me. Cassi is in her early 30's, she goes to a male matchmaker who is sort of aspbergery and not very nice, very direct and defensive. I wanted to like him more but there wasn't much to him. He has Cassi do a variety of mysterious tasks and promises to match her with the most suitable partner. The only issue I had with this book is that sometimes it seemed to leap ahead without a proper building up or tension building. But I can't be too picky because it was a little Xmas romance, a mini-pleasure comfort read.
