Math. A lot of math. If you're not into the math, this isn't the book for you.
Livio debunks a lot of the mythology surrounding the "golden ratio." No, the Egyptians didn't use it to build the pyramids, and no, the Greeks didn't use it to build the Parthenon. It does appear a lot in nature but Livio gives an excellent, natural, explanation for many of those instances.
All in all I was surprised how interesting Livio kept the subject throughout the book. It seems a tough assignment to keep "1.6" that fascinating but he manages.
