A real life love story full of pain, sorrow, patience, and love. This was one of the best memoirs I have ever read.
The pressure of a young girl in a POC household was palpable, and so was the inevitable disappointment. Furthermore, rebuilding the mother and daughter relationship, in whatever capacity possible, was equally heartwrenching and heartwarming. This whole book had me from beginning to end, feeling every single emotion.
Sometimes, a pencil is all you need.
