A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

5.0

I thought A Gentleman in Moscow was fabulous. I've read other books that chart the rise of the Soviet Union but never one that has done so with such style and grace. The characters never felt one dimensional and the Count was such a pleasant focal point for the whole story (it could have easily been depressing as he watches the world of the aristocracy collapse, but in this novel seeing things through his eyes was a breath of fresh air. It was vibrant and alive.) This book fully deserves the praise it gets and is one of my highlights of the year so far.
