as a stand-alone, this would've been a good book but seeing as its part of a series, it felt like a huge mess. somehow the world felt completely disconnected from the one we were first introduced to and it felt like only one character actually went thru actual growth. the ending was abrupt and the "epilogue" felt like it could've been a regular chapter following the last and most importantly, roen, my king, was written out for no reason like ?????
