Carnal Knowledge: Sex Education You Didn't Get in School by Zoë Ligon, Elizabeth Renstrom

informative lighthearted fast-paced

3.25

"Easy & lighthearted" is the best way I can describe this book. This was a cute, quick, enjoyable read for me. And while I didn't learn anything new, I'm glad this book exists. It felt accessible, easy to read, and covered a lot of ground in very little time. I liked the presentation (art & page layout). This would be great for folks new to sex ed, or needing a modern refresher. It covers the basics of many important topics from consent, toys, barriers, lube, boundaries, anatomy, to more complex topics like body image, racism, identity and more. The sections on the clitoral hood and foreskin were (happily) unexpected, and surprisingly good! I found myself appreciating the casual tone information was presented in. Some might find this book a tad basic, but it's straightforward, accesible, and a great jumping off point. This book would make a great gift for anyone who'd appreciate it's sassy, colorful presentation, and quick-n-easy (up to date) dives into a variety of important topics.
