When She Reigns by Jodi Meadows

5.0

I love dragons and strong heroines so I had high hopes for this series and this final conclusion was even better than I thought it would be! I loved the diverse cast of characters and shifting perspective that added suspense, and of course I loved all of the dragons! This is an incredible fantasy world that had mysterious politicians, changing alliances, and hidden backstories you had to figure out. In this final book, all hope is almost lot, but our heroes take matters into their own hands and try to literally save their world. I really liked Mira struggled to find how to use her own voice and where she fit in to the larger schemes around her while choosing her friends and enemies carefully. She really comes into her own by this final book, but still has the same struggles of what role she wants to play and what she'll give up to save the dragons. Mira is one of the very best fantasy leading ladies I’ve ever read. Our hero is also supportive of her, feels big feelings, and is a great role model for men in fantasy. Their romance is a side note in their epic fight to save their islands that enhances the story but doesn't control all of the action. I enjoyed everything about this trilogy and couldn’t put it down until I finished. I wish more people would read these books because they are the best dragon series in YA
