Fractured Freedom
by Shain Rose
Booktok let me down with this one, honestly. A 2-star book but I’m gonna give it 3 because the sex scenes were pretty good.
What Makes It 3 Stars:
- the lead woman (Delilah) is whiny and immature and does nothing but give mixed signals up until the literal moment Dante proposes.
- every piece of Dante’s dialogue has him calling her “lamb” or “little lamb” or “my lamb”. It was cute the first few times, but he doesn’t need to say it every time he speaks to her. There’s also a lot of wolf references when it comes to him. Again, it was cool the first few times but the reader doesn’t need to be constantly reminded of the metaphorical wild relationship between them.
- the rival love interest is Delilah’s twin sister Izzy who also happens to be in love with Dante. The end of this book sets up the next book and hints at a romance between Izzy and Cade. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the author hadn’t made me absolutely hate Izzy.
You know how Booktok gives you snippets and quotes from the book to get you hooked? That’s what happened to me here.
- - - “This not your room, baby?” Allan stared at Dante, confused. “Sorry, man. If we were loud—”
“Quite frankly, she wasn’t loud enough. Considering I know exactly how she sounds when she wants someone to fuck her.” - - -
Yep, best scene of the entire book right there.
