augustinian 's review for:
The Silence of the Lambs
by Thomas Harris
exciting and suspenseful. i really loved clarice and how determined and smart she is. she was a very wellrounded character that's very driven and inspiring in a way.
was fun to read the dialogue between hannibal and clarice, as well sad as we follow how deeply jack feels about the loss of his wife.
the only thing i wish we couldve gotten a bit more of was some depth on jame, seeing as francis got a lot of backstory and depth, and we really got to feel the full spectrum of his psychology and why he is the way he is. in this book i didnt really finish it feeling like i understood jame (though i did genuinely feel a sense of horror about him when he's describedthrowing chicken bones down a well at catherine, or hunting people in his dark house and watching people with the nightvision goggles. it made my stomach turn)
however, the lack of jame's character is made up for by the strength of clarice's, so 4 stars it will be!
