For the first few chapters of this book I really struggled to get into it, but when I did MY GODS.

This is worth the hype. The world is weird and eerie and cultish, and you can just tell from the get go that the unease you’ll feel about the way the ascended rule is definitely because they are sus AF.

I love poppy with my whole heart. Yes she’s naïve at points but she is so brave, so feisty and so determined to keep her power in a situation where all of her agency has been stripped away.

The supporting characters are so lovely, and the baddies are bad in all the best more awful ways.

I love an author that doesn’t pull their punches and this will smack you right in the heart. It gave me ALL the feels, I laughed out loud at some parts and teared up at others and it just hurt me in all the best ways. I just could not put it down!

If you liked Serpent and the Wings of Night and the Kindreds Curse Saga this is for you.
