Beautiful, colourful, and important storytelling by Abi Daré. The audiobook brought it to life, and the authentic African voice actors animated it so well. Fell in love with Adunni and Tia, and I championed the protagonists goal, until the last page, to have a “louding voice”. Domestic slavery is highlighted here, child marriage, and a strong theme of social justice for Nigerian women runs through this novel. The characters are BIG and you will feel very strongly about the majority of them.
Graphic: Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Rape, Slavery
Moderate: Abortion
