This is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

adventurous hopeful mysterious tense medium-paced

4.0

To be frank, it took me around 80 pages before I started to enjoy this book. I felt through most of it, every sentence was just containing words.  I couldn't make sense of a lot of the story even though it was beautifully written. I was just letting myself absorb what I was reading. The world building is crazy in this book - I could really visualise all the landscapes, cities and places that Red and Blue were navigating around. I would have loved more explanation about the time travel but the concept of weaving the strands was such a lovely way to describe it and visually very vivid. I went from not understanding anything to rooting so hard for Red and Blue to succeed. I could feel the intensity building within the chase between them. Overall, a super fun, adventurous and romantic read, I want someone in my own reality to write letters to me as extravagant and eloquent as those of Red and Blue!
