“we all grow into our coffins, Danny”
god what to say about this book. nothing happens in this book until everything happens. it was easy to put down and then I couldn’t put it down. it was astute and sensitive except the climactic scene was melodramatic in its violence. the plot sometimes strains my credulity but the bones of the story are truthful and speak to much larger concerns about society and austerity and the discontents of our postindustrial age. it’s a slow burn of a book, emphasis on slow and emphasis on burn. read it.
