The Jasad Crown
by Sara Hashem
This book! Oh my goodness! I was surprised by the multiple POVs but, it did make sense with the separation of the characters and it was amazing to get to know the characters better (HOWEVER, now I want books about those characters?!). I love love love how Sara writes her characters, they are so human. I felt Sylvia's struggle down to my bones, she has all of this thrust upon her by those around her (not faulting them per say) and all she has wanted is to survive. Some might say that she is selfish, but isn't that so raw and human?! Sylvia has fought for her whole life for survival, and I think her resentment is so real! Ugh, this book is just so masterful! Also, Arin and Sylvia are my god-tier couple alongside Damon and Laurent. The tension, the yearning, oh my word! I love them together, I was rooting for them the whole time.
One criticism of this book was that it was very fast-paced, and at times it did feel rushed. There were certain parts that I wanted more of, but I recognize at the same time, that I am happy it was a duology. So I understand that it is a hard balance. I suspect that we might get books about the characters that I felt I missed out on??? (Here is hoping)
