Hope: A Tragedy by Shalom Auslander

3.0

This book was incredibly funny and said a lot about death and how people view history and guilt--all those big questions and it's still funny. The premise of Anne Frank living in a neurotic middle aged Jewish man's attic is brilliant. The problem is that the story gets really repetitive: the same actions and beliefs from every character. Nothing really changes at all, which is maybe the point but that makes for a pretty boring, tedious novel after awhile. Would have made a dynamite short story or novella.
