Really 4.5 stars. Would have been 5 if it hadn’t been a little slow in the middle. This is definitely a book to revisit as I’m sure there is some wonder I have missed. As always, Smith is lyrically and structurally brilliant in ‘Winter’ with a social commentary which is both cutting and thought-provoking.
