The writer of the afterword says it took them “three tries to get what Octavia Butler was trying to do with Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents. I think. I’m still not sure.” And they didn’t need to say that, also I’m not committing to three reads in the hopes I get the hype. It was decent writing. The story was compelling at some points, not enough to read another book.
